Are we in the Land of Forgetfulness

As I was reading Psalm 88 this morning I was drawn to verse twelve.  It says, “Will your goodness be known in the land of forgetfulness?”  Is Gods goodness to us in the land of forgetfulness?  NO never!  This Psalm probably holds some things we have experienced a time or two.  It is speaking of troubles, no strength, cut off from His care, dark place of the dead, God’s angry waves crushing, being hated, being weak from crying, etc.  Have you ever felt any of these things?  Don’t feel alone the Psalmist who wrote this did too.

If we skip over to Psalm 118 we see VICTORY! Usually during dark times we can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it is there.   Victory is usually around the corner, and joy comes in the morning.  So this week read Psalm 88 first, and then read Psalm 118.  Be encouraged God’s goodness is not in the land of forgetfulness.

Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us He will NEVER leave us nor forsake us.  Also in Joshua 1:5 it tells us that again.  Hebrews 13:5 we are told that again.  So if God tells us that 3 times it must be important to remember!

Now as for His goodness, let’s look at Psalm 16:2 “I said to the Lord, You are my Lord.  EVERY good thing I have comes from you.”  Plainly in Psalm 23 He tells us that surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives!  Wow, grasp that dear brothers and sisters.  Goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives! That doesn’t look like the land of forgetfulness.  ALL the days of our lives!

His eye is always on us!  If His eye is on the sparrow it surely is watching us!
